Welcome to Hill House Mississippi, Hattiesburg's greatest hidden treasure.
The Hill House Vacation Rental is fully equipped with all of the conveniences of home. This lakefront house features antique furniture, slate floors downstairs, and roofed porch the length of the house, overlooking the 5 acre lake and pastures.
The Acadian Cabin nestles amid soaring pine trees. Rustic, with exposed oak beams, hewn on-site, the cabin features a screened back porch that overlooks a wooded ridge. From the front porch, made private by a nearby stand of young pines, you can see a view of gently rolling pastures. Fully furnished with all modern conveniences, the cabin combines ease of living with relaxing surroundings.
Both properties are situated in an award-winning, 240-acre, working tree farm of pines and mixed hardwoods. With over three miles of woodland walking trails, Hill House is a magnet for birds and small game, including deer, turkey, and waterfowl. A dream vacation site for photographers, bird lovers, and artists, Hill House will also appeal to hikers and fishermen, as fishing and boating privileges are available.
Once in Hattiesburg, there is plenty to do. Hattiesburg, a university town, has many offerings to delight the eye and the ear, such as plays, orchestra concerts, dance performances, and a small art museum on the campus of the University of Southern Mississippi. Downtown art walks, two world-class golf courses, canoeing on the scenic Okatoma River, antique shops, and casinos on the Mississippi River and Gulf Coast are among the local and nearby attractions and events. The Long Leaf Trace offers miles of scenic trails for walkers and bikers. For more information on events, festivities and culture of the surrounding area, go to Hattiesburg's Area Development Partnership.
Gene and his wife, Giulia, author of “Missed Generation; Claiming My Mississippi Heritage,” a book that describes life on this tree farm in the 1940s, look forward to welcoming you to Hill House.
